DOUBLE ELIMINATION DRAWS: When there are more than 6 teams entered, a double elimination (i.e. Bracket) format will be used.

There will be a 16-team maximum for each sub-category (e.g., 2.5 men’s doubles, 2.5 women’s doubles, 2.5 mixed doubles, etc.).

In the double elimination draw, there are A-side and B-side brackets, which guarantee that every person and team get to play at least two games. If you win a match, you remain on the A-side. If you lose, you go to the B side. If you lose two matches, you are knocked out of the tournament. At the end, the A-side winning team takes on the B-side winner (who has lost once). The B-side winner must defeat the undefeated A-side winner twice to capture
gold.

The following applies:

  • All A-side marches will be played as a best of three games, with the first team to 11 points winning each game (i.e., you do not need to win by 2 points).
    • If a team wins the first two games, they are the winner of the match and a third game is not played. If the first two games are split, a third and deciding game is played and the teams switch ends after 6 points.
  • All B-side matches, EXCEPT THE BRONZE MEDAL MATCH, will play one game to 15 points, where the first team to 15 points wins (i.e., you do not need to win by 2 points). For these games, teams will switch ends after a team gets to 8 points.
    • The bronze medal match in all draws will be a best of three games only.
  • As stated above, the B-side winner must defeat the undefeated A-side winner twice to capture Gold. For this to happen, first, the B-side winner must defeat the A-side team in the best of three match. Then, a game to 15 is played, with teams switching ends after 8 points. The winner of this game wins the Gold.

ROUND ROBIN DRAWS: Round Robin draws are used when there are 6 or fewer teams
entered.

In Round Robins with 6 teams, the following process will be followed:

  • Round 1: Two pools of 3 teams are used. Each pool team plays two matches of best of three games to 11, no need to win by 2. The third-place team in each pool is eliminated.
  • Round 2: The winner of Pool A will play the second-place team in Pool B; and the winner of Pool B will play the second-place team in Pool A. Round 2 matches will be best of three games to 11, no need to win by 2. If the second-place team defeats the first-place team in the best of 3, then an additional game to 15 is played. If the top seeded team wins the best of three, no additional game is needed.
  • Finals Round: The two winning teams play each other for Gold/Silver in a best of three match with games to 11, no need to win by 2. The two losing teams play a best of three match for Bronze/Fourth with games to 11, no need to win by 2.

In Round Robins with 5 teams or 4 teams the following process will be followed:

  • Teams will play 3 matches in round robins to determine medals seeding.
  • Round Robin matches: Two (2) games will be played to 11, no need to win by 2. No third game will be played at this point.
  • After the round robin matches are all completed, the tie-breaker for placement in the Finals round is as follows and in this order:
  1. Most wins
  2. Head-to-head competition
  3. Least losses
  4. Your total points over your total possible points
  • Final Round: The format for Playoffs used will be similar to the 6-team Round Robin format for playoffs:
    • Bronze Match: 3rd versus 4th in a best of three games to 11 only; no chance at Gold, no tie breaker game to 15.
    • Gold/Silver Match: 1st versus 2nd in a best of three games to 11 only; no tie breaker game to 15.

In Round Robins with 3 teams the following process will be followed:

  • Teams will play only 2 matches of best of three games to 11, no need to win by 2, to determine seeding.
  • After the round robin matches are all completed, the tie breaker for placement in the Finals round is as follows and in this order:
  1. Most wins
  2. Head-to-head competition
  3. Least losses
  4. Your total points over your total possible points
  • Finals Round:
    • Bronze Match: 2nd versus 3rd in a best of three games to 11 only; no tie breaker game to 15.
    • Gold/Silver Match: 1st versus winner of Bronze match in a best of three games to 11 only; no tie breaker game to 15.

In Round Robins with only two teams, the following process will be followed:

  • Round 1: The teams play a best of three match of three games to 11, no need to win by 2, to determine first- and second-seed for the medal round.
  • Final Round: In the medal round, the lower seed team must defeat the top seed team in both a best of three match, and then in a game to 15. If the top seed wins the best of three match, they are the Gold medalists.
